From the Supervisor's Desk
Town News Spring has arrived and we are now fast moving into the Summer season. Its always great to see the lake come alive as our Summer residents return. Our long time Town Clerk, Betty Collins has retired after 25 years of service to the town. An Open House was held for Betty on Sunday, April 30th to honor her service to the community. Assemblyman Joe Errigo presented her with a Resolution of Appreciation that was passed in both the Assembly and Senate. Please welcome Judy Hanley, who has been appointed by the town board to fill Bettys position as Town Clerk. Judy will have to run for the position in the Fall election, and again in 2007 to have the job permanently The Town Clerks hours will remain the same. We are grateful to Slate Construction of Syracuse NY for making the Route 21 closure as short as possible. They did an incredible amount of work in a short time. Access to the Woodville area has returned just in time for Summer. The town highway department has been working on constructing a road to the original and future Wilder Cemetery site off Route 64. The Pioneer portion of the cemetery is now much more accessible to the public. You are welcome to walk up to the old site, but be mindful of the fact that the road is still a work in process. You may have noticed the additional landscaping being done around the various town properties. Our thanks to Ricky Emmons and others from the Town crew for their efforts in this regard. We are proposing to renew our efforts in adding guide rail to essential areas in town. Currently we are reviewing the costs to to guide rails the length of Bills Road. A master plan for guide rail installation was done several years ago by our town engineers and we are using that to prioritize our work. The town board has chosen not to enact the Logging law proposed by the Canandaigua Lake Watershed council. We have made some small modifications to our existing law and will continue with that for a while. Our biggest concern was our ability as a town to enforce the proposed regulations. At some point we expect to ask the Planning Board to consider some regulations on steep slopes. The businesses in Bristol Springs and our Overlook on County Road 12 were recently featured on R-News The Getaway Guy segment. It gave a very favorable review of what this little community has to offer. Congratulations to those local businesses that were featured. R-News.com has it featured as well.
